Controls
Buttons on handhelds, the keyboard on the desktop, and touch and mouse.
Hold FN (F1) on any screen to see its buttons. These work everywhere:
| Button | Keyboard | Does |
|---|---|---|
| SELECT | Tab | Screens bar; twice, the previous screen |
| START | M | The screen's More menu; twice quickly, sleep |
| Y | Space | Pause / resume |
| L1 / R1 | Q / E | Previous / next song |
| L2 / R2 | , / . | Rewind / forward 10 s |
| A | Enter | Accept / open |
| B | Esc, Backspace | Back |
| X | S | Shuffle |
| FN | F1 | Hold for the controls guide |
In games, START pauses instead. The left analog stick works like the D-pad everywhere. Settings → Swap A/B and X/Y swaps accept and back, and the X and Y buttons too: use it on consoles with Nintendo-style labels (A on the right, X on top), so the letters in the on-screen hints match the ones printed on your console.

Touch and mouse
- Tap rows, covers, tabs, menu tiles, Settings tiles, the player's buttons and the progress bar. Tapping a row opens it.
- Lists scroll under your finger with momentum; the mouse wheel scrolls them too.
- A long press (half a second) is START; right-click is B; middle-click pauses.
- The button hints at the bottom can be tapped; with touch they become real named buttons.
- In portrait, the library, Radio and Podcasts tabs open from a button as a drop-down.
- Games have their own touch controls (see Visualizers and games).
